Solidiance has invited Indonesia’s leading on-demand platform GO-JEK to conduct a feasibility study on electric vehicles in Jakarta with the aim to see whether electronic motorcycle, or e-motorcycle, could become a feasible option as an emerging two-wheel transportation mode. In this article, Gervasius Samosir, Associate Partner at Solidiance, explains two reasons why there is a need to conduct this market trial on electric vehicles. According to him, Indonesia’s motorcycle population is the highest in Southeast Asia, reaching around 105 million by the end of 2017. And with the boom of ride-hailing services, both parties have agreed to share the space of innovation that is a new way of eco-friendly transportation for the people.
