Management consulting firm Solidiance has collaborated with GO-JEK, Indonesia's leading on-demand platform, to conduct a market trial on electric motorcycles in the Jakarta area. The goal of the trial is to understand whether an electric motor can a potential transportation for the Indonesian people in the future. This pilot project will involve 10 GO-JEK drivers operating in the Greater Jakarta area and measure the cost efficiency of electric motors compared to fossil-fueled vehicles. Gervasius Samosir, Associate Partner at Solidiance, mentioned that Indonesia's transport sector is one of the main contributors to high carbon dioxide (CO2), and motorcycles are the main cause of GHG emissions. By partnering up with the largest ride-hailing motor vehicle app in Indonesia, Solidiance hopes to better understand the potential market for electric vehicles in the country.
