The major economies of Southeast Asia will face a $320 billion hike in annual healthcare costs within a decade. The daunting prospect will likely be compounded by an aging population profile and unhealthy lifestyle habits. Yet ‘tremendous opportunity’ also lies for the well-poised ASEAN nations to develop a world-class efficient and sustainable healthcare system. Healthcare leaders and policy makers must take early action in order to combat the growing issue.
