As COP24 in Katowice, Poland has finalized the implementation guidelines for the agreement, China has been a solid supporter of the accord’s principles. According to Nicolas Pechet, our Shanghai-based partner, China’s central government leadership is keenly aware that poor environmental conditions can severely affect social stability and migration of the wealthiest citizens. China managed to meet its 2020 carbon intensity target three years earlier and continue to play a leading role in global efforts to tackle climate change issue. Together with the government, local organizations, foundations and research institutions in China also launched the Global Action Initiative during the conference to give full support to fulfill the country’s commitments.
